The Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX 12.70 from Black Ice Software has been released for developers.

The latest release contains several new Annotation objects to allow for development of interactive applications such as a Cover Page filler, Form Filling or Form Editing applications.

Some of the new annotation object types include Editable Textbox, Editable Multiline-Textbox, Signature, Date and Time, Checkbox, Hyperlink and Tooltip. Each object has several properties such as font type, font size, text alignment, background color, default text, etc, that make Annotation SDK easy to use toolkit.

The new interactive annotation objects (Textbox, Multiline- Textbox, Signature, Date and Time, Checkbox) can also be filled by the user with the form filling functions. The Annotation objects can be saved in the TIFF header, or saved as an XML file.

The Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX also includes an entirely updated OCR engine from Tesseract release V4.0.0 from October 29, 2018. Please see technical details about New OCR engine - Tesseract release V4.0.0 performance.

The Imaging Toolkit license models will also be changing. The Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX products runtime free version will be discontinued. The Annotation SDK Plug-in and the Image PDF Plug-in will also no longer available as Add-ons for Image SDK and TIFF SDK. Existing customers with support contracts will continue to receive upgrades and can renew the support contracts per existing agreements however for all new licenses; Black Ice Software will also be removing “add on SDK” licenses.

The Annotation SDK Plug-in and the Image PDF Plug-in will be available ONLY in the Document Imaging SDK/ActiveX.
