Associating Files to be Opened with the TIFF Viewer

At installation time the setup program sets TIFF Viewer as the default viewer for TIFF files, associating TIFF files to TIFF Viewer. Double clicking on an associated file type opens the image using the TIFF Viewer application. The TIFF Viewer can also be associated with additional file types.

At installation time the browser plug-in is automatically associated through web browsers to display TIFF files. This page is about associating files to the main TIFF Viewer application, not the browser plugin. For more information about the browser plugin, please see the Enabling/Disabling Browser Plug-In page in the manual.

There are several ways to set the file associations for TIFF Viewer:

·         Setting file associations the first time TIFF Viewer runs

·         Setting file associations using the TIFF Viewer options

·         Setting file association by right-clicking on a file

·         Setting file associations using the Windows Default App window

·         Setting file associations during MSI installation using a custom INI file. For more information about MSI installation options, please see the Tiff Viewer MSI Installation Guide
