This release of the BiLPDManager includes many user interface improvements, new enhancements to simplify configuration, improved logging and is fully tested and compatible with Windows Servers 2019.

These new enhancements are focused on streamlining installation and making the product more user friendly.

Some of the new enhancements are to simplify the configuration of the BiLPDManager, such as assigning a printer to the queue. These enhancements were designed to prevent users from misconfiguring the BiLPDManager or leaving out critical configuration steps.

For example: The Queue name is no longer case sensitive, which has caused some confusion for Users.

The latest release also includes added character filtering for text files sent from UNIX systems, providing a more accurate formatting of documents when converted to PDF.

User interface updates such as; simplified error messages will allow users to better interpret the actual functionality of the feature and improve usability of the BiLPDManager.

The BiLPDManager can now run as a Windows service under the Administrator or System account while being executed as a desktop application for other Users at the same time. Multiple users can also monitor the LPD port for Print Jobs simultaneously.

The complete list of improvements in the latest BiLPDManager includes the following:

  • Supporting Windows Server 2019
  • Added UNIX text files format support to remove CRLF (#10311)
  • Added detecting the Microsoft LPD Service feature (#10308)
  • Changed the user account and queue name validation to not case sensitive (#10325)
  • Stability improvement for printing the print jobs if owner is the local System (#9781)
  • Stability improvement for canceled print job if printer data type is TEXT (#9782)
  • Stability improvement for printing if spooler directory location changed (#9780)
  • Stability improvement for installing the BiLPDManager as service (#9768, #9762)
  • Stability improvement for logging if the logging directory is not accessible (#9767)
  • Stability improvement for printing if printer is not assigned for a queue (#9744)
  • User interface update for better usability of the BiLPDManager and simplified error messages BiLPDManager (#10304, #10302, #10299, #10298, #10300, #10317, #9770, #9771, #9773, #9774, #9769, #9772)
  • Added the version number to title bar of BiLPDManager installers (#10033)
  • Updated manual
