Microsoft Office Page Size Problem

By default Microsoft Office automatically resizes Letter and A4 pages to the actual printer’s selected page size if the selected page size is Letter or A4. For example when the selected page size in a Black Ice Printer Driver is Letter, Microsoft Office will convert all A4 sized pages to Letter sized pages in the printing process. This feature can be disabled in Microsoft Excel and Word. In Office 2003 this feature is called ‘Allow A4/Letter paper resizing’, in more recent Office versions it is called ‘Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11 paper sizes’.

In Office 2003 the ‘Allow A4/Letter paper resizing’ feature can be disabled by following the steps below:

1.    Go to ‘Tools’ menu

2.    Click ‘Options’

3.    Go to the ‘Print’ tab

4.    Uncheck ‘Allow A4/Letter paper resizing’ option

In Office 2007 the ‘Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11 paper sizes’ option can be disabled with the following steps:

2.    In Office 2007 click on ‘Word/Excel’ options

3.    In the list on the left select ‘Advanced’

4.    Under the ‘Print’ section uncheck ‘Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11” paper sizes
