In some cases mapped printers can get stuck on the server side.
This can happen when the server is shut down incorrectly, or a user logs off the server while not all the printers are mapped.
To remove stuck printers from the server, a user with administrative privileges needs to log in to the server, and perform the following steps:
Windows 2025/2022/2019/2016/2012 Servers:
1. Open Devices and Printers.
2. Select the stuck printer, and right click on it. Choose the Remove Device option to remove the printer.
3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Print2RDP Server. In this directory, an .INI file with the stuck printer name is stored that needs to be deleted.
Windows 2003 Servers:
1. Open Printers and Faxes.
2. Select the stuck printer and right click on it. Click Delete to remove the printer.
3. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Print2RDP Server. In this directory, an .INI file with the stuck printer name is stored that needs to be deleted.
