Starting the document conversion

Start Document Converter Server Service Manager from the desktop. The green line at the top indicates that the service is installed properly, and ready to convert documents.

NOTE: The red line at the top indicates that the service could not be installed therefore the Administrator must install it manually. For more information, refer to the Installing Document Converter Server Service section.

To start converting documents, copy the files need to be converted into the specified Monitored (Input) directory, and click on Start Conversion button.

When the Service Manager has started to initiate the conversion, it starts to write the events to the Event log. The successfully converted (output) documents will be moved to the Converted (Output) folder, the successfully processed original documents will be moved to the Processed folder, and the documents could not be converted will be moved to the Failed folder. The output documents currently under conversion will be temporary moved to Processed/Working folder, and once the conversion finished, the file will be moved to Output directory.

While the conversion is running, Document Converter Server monitors the Monitored (Input) folder, therefore one can copy new files to the folder any time, and the Document Converter Server will process the new files as soon as possible. For configuring the Document Converter Server, please refer to the Configuring the Document Converter Server section.

The monitoring will stop, if the system reboots with a windows update, or if the system is shot down or reboot takes more than 4 minutes. Simple quick reboot of a system will not stop monitoring.

If the connection is lost for a longer time (about 5 minutes) between the shared directory and Document Converter Server, the file watcher event of Microsoft API cannot detect the file creation.

Filename Generation

The service will save the printed documents in the same name as the source input document. For example, if printing 1.jpg to PDF file format, then the printed document will be named to 1.pdf. NOTE: If there is already a file named 1.pdf, service will overwrite the existing file.

The base requirement is MS Office 2013 or 2010 or 2007 and Adobe Reader 10 or higher or Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 or higher or Foxit Reader 9.6 or higher to be installed on the server.
