Q) Why will Fax Broadcast not start on Windows Vista? I installed Impact Fax Broadcast on Vista but received an Appcrash error.
A) This is not a bug in Fax Broadcast. There is a new feature in Windows Vista to avoid virus infections and running infected files on the computer. This feature is called User Account Control and it can be accessed in the Control Panel. Thanks to this feature the Administrator is working as a simple user on the computer. If the User Account Control is switched on, the Administrator doesn’t have access to the system folders and files. This causes the problem with Fax Broadcast because it needs to access and change some files in the Windows folder.
To run Fax Broadcast without any error messages during the install process, please switch off the User Account Control or run the software with full administrator rights. To run the software with full administrator rights, please click on the Fax Broadcast icon with right mouse button and select the “Run as Administrator” from the pop-up menu.
To change User Account Control Settings, please follow the below instructions:
• Open the Control Panel,
• If the Control Panel is in “Control Panel Home” view:
o Click the “User Accounts and Family Safety” text,
o Click the “User Accounts” text,
o Change the User Account Control (UAC) settings at the “Turn User Account Control on or off”.
• If the Control Panel is in “Classic” view:
o Open the User Accounts,
o Change the User Account Control (UAC) settings at the “Turn User Account Control on or off”.
• Restart your computer.
