Can I install the Black Ice printer driver on a terminal server remotely?
Microsoft Terminal Server does not allow you to install any printer driver remotely. All printer driver installations must be done as the administrator from the local console. When you try to add the port from the installation to the system from a remote machine, the Windows API function will fail. You can add the port to the terminal server machine only from the console. When you run the installation from the console, TS will detect setup.exe and automatically display a window that instructs you to install the application from the control panel --> add/remove programs.
If you rename the setup.exe to something else .exe, Windows will allow you to install the program. However, this is only a workaround to circumvent the add/remove window but we recommend installing the printer driver from the add/remove programs window.
