Configuring the Drivers for Users by System Administrators

 

The printer driver can be configured for every user on the system during installation or manually after installation.

 

This section describes how to configure the printer driver manually for every user on the system right after installation.  Most of the default settings of the Printer Driver (File Formats, Start Application, Filename Generation, Watermark, Embed Annotation, and Bates Numbering) can be changed for every User on the system.

 

If the printer driver is already installed and the Users already used the printer driver, like printed to the printer driver or opened the Printing Preferences, the Printer Driver cannot be configured for users with the process described below!

On Windows Server the printer driver can be configured for every Users on the system by using the Black Ice Document Converter Configuration Manager (DCCM) utility.

 

To configure the printer driver manually for every user go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right click on the Printer Driver or Agent Printer > Printer Properties > Printer Driver or Agent Printer > Advanced tab > Printing Defaults.

 

 

Please see the list below for the configurable default settings in Printing Defaults for all users.

 

On the Device Settings tab the following settings can be configured:

 

·         Paper Size

·         Force Fax resolution

·         Orientation

·         Graphic Resolution

 

On the File Format tab the following settings can be configured and the file format specific settings:

 

·         Color Depth

·         Options

o   Save each page as separate file

o   Generate output in memory

o   Flip page(s) horizontally

o   Flip page(s) vertically

o   Print page(s) inverted

o   Disable output file

o   Generate Text Output

o   Mail merge

o   Save position and style

o   Unicode/Eastern char. support

·         Photo Quality

 

Every settings on the Start Application tab.

Every settings on the Watermark tab.

Every settings on the Annotation-Header-Footer tab.

Enable Bates Numbering checkbox on the Bates Numbering tab.

On the Filename Generation tab the following settings can be configured:

 

·         Save as Option

·         Output directory

·         Group File options

 

Every settings on the OCR tab.

Every settings on the Barcode tab. (only for X1 Printer Drivers)

Every settings on the Text Output tab.

 

Limitation:

The Email Configuration, Send printer document in email, Upload to SharePoint, and Redirect Printing and Profile Manager settings cannot be modified for Every Users on the system after the installation is completed. If the administrator changes the Email Configuration, Send printer document in email, Upload to SharePoint, Redirector Printing and Profile Manager through the Printing Preferences of the printer driver after installation, the changes do not affect the users.
