Applying settings from host for shared printers on client machines

Depending on the feature, shared Black Ice Printer Drivers can be configured on the Host or on the Client computers. Please refer to the Printer Sharing Limitations section to see where to configure the Black Ice Printer Driver features for all users.

The Printer Driver feature/setting can be configured on the Host

For example: Text Output, Watermark, Stamp, Bates Numbering or OCR.

If the feature need to be configured on the Host computer (for example Watermark, Stamp, Annotation, Bates Numbering, Start Application) go to the Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right click on the shared Black Ice Printer Driver > Printer Properties > Advanced Tab > Printing Defaults… > and configure the printer settings on the host computer. Do not use the Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right click on the shared Black Ice Printer Driver > Printing Preferences.

After the printer settings are changed, the settings will be applied automatically to the shared printers on the clients.

For example, if the printer on the host was configured to print watermarks, the printed document from the client will also have watermark.

The Printer Driver feature/setting can be configured only on the Client

For example: File Format, Output Directory, Paper Size or Orientation.

If the feature can be configured on the Client computer, then one can configure the Printer Driver on the client computer independently from the host.

In order to apply a setting from the Host, one must remove the shared printer from the Client, configure the printer on the Host (Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right click on the shared Black Ice Printer Driver > Printer Properties > Advanced Tab > Printing Defaults…), and add the shared printer to the client again.

The newly added printer on the Client computer will have the same settings as the Host has.
