Using a Web browser to send faxes

 

To send faxes using a web browser, select “Send a fax” from the left hand margin after you are logged into the server. The Impact Fax Server printer driver will be used to convert the file into the appropriate file type to be faxable.  The following page will open:

 

 

Please enter the following information:

·              Fax Number – the fax number where you want the fax to be sent. Please be sure that the fax number you enter corresponds to the area where the Fax Server is located.  For example, if the Server is located in New York and you are sending a fax to Boston from the network in Japan, enter the fax number as 1-617-223-4565.  After the fax number you can enter the name of the person to whom the fax is being sent to. Put a space between the name and the fax number (required field).

·              From – The name of the sender (optional field).

·              Subject – The subject of the fax. It will be printed on the cover page (optional field)

·              Attachments – You can add attachments by using the Browse button to select the file that you want to send with the fax. The supported file formats are  ASCII text files and Group 31D TIFF files. Any other attachments will not be processed. You can only attach one file to a fax (optional field).

·              Create Fax Header – Check this option of you want to include a fax header on the transmitted fax.  The fax header will contain the date, time, your CSID and page number

·              Priority – importance of the sent fax can be high, standard or low.

·              Message text – The text of the message you want to send.

 

After the necessary information is entered, press the “Send the fax” button. If the information is correct the fax will be sent, otherwise you will get an error message. In this case, use the Browser’s Back button to go back and correct the information on the form.

 

After the fax was sent you will get a confirmation in your inbox. The confirmation will contain the result of the fax process or an error code.

 

Important: Please make sure that your browser supports document uploading. Without this feature, the attached file cannot be transmitted to the Server and the fax cannot be sent. Internet Explorer and Firefox support this feature.

 

If you are accessing the Impact Fax Server through a Proxy server, please make sure that the Proxy Server also supports document uploading.
