Annotations can be saved as separate annotation layers, or they can be saved as a permanent part of an image.
To save annotations as a separate layer (stored in the TIFF tags)
Under the Annotation Menu select the Save Annotation menu item
To save annotations as a permanent part of an image
Under the Annotation Menu select the Make Annotations Permenant menu item. PLEASE NOTE, once the annotation objects are burned in, they cannot be removed or modified.
